The theoretical basis of this dissertation is provided by the Conservation of Resources Theory as coined by Steven Hobfoll (1989). The key question investigated is to what extent resource gain spirals, as postulated by Hobfoll, can be empirically confirmed and what mechanisms they comply with. For the purpose of closing the gaps in the empirical research, two longitudinal intervention studies are conducted.
