My dear Professor
I know nothing of Mr Dawes Hicks[1]. If he is an Oxford man, he has not in any way distinguished himself. If I knew his College I might be able to find out something more about him. At present I can discover nothing. Of course if you know that he is a competent person, that is enough. | But I cannot answer for him.
I am sending you this post a notice of Professor Wallace[2] which I contribute to the University magazine. You can reproduce it in Kantstudien, if you think fit.
I shall not look out for any one to fill Prof. Wallace’s plan till I have heard from you.

Yours respectfully[b]
E. Caird
